Edited by: Jericho Dark on 27/08/2007 14:42:41 I remember something my Grand pappy said before he died:
"As long as you do not forget who you are, no other nation, religion, or God can lord over you. For the Matari have greater influence in the next world then any other of our brothers and sisters separated from the void.
As long as one warrior, keeps true to himself and heeds the call from the spirits of his ancestors, the Spirits of the Heavens shall always make sure their way of life is preserved. Follow the path, feel the path, know your path."
With that, I left his room and allowed my father some time alone with him.
We keep talking about changing the Republic from within, to make all of these people, our people, let go of past ordeals, to join together and rally up against the evil and the corrupt.
We are destined to follow our own path. Is that not what we wanted in the first place? True, absolute freedom? Even though there are still others that are being held down by the conventions of slave labor and minimum wage in other Empires, when the day comes, they too will be free.
There are some Matari that are a free people and want to ensure that freedom is preserved. They are leading the True Path.
There are other Matari who are keeping to themselves, selling goods to any and all who have the necessary funds to pay. They are leading the True Path.
Then there are those Matari who have joined the ranks of certain factions, who *****and pillage, plunder from the weak. Sadly, they too are leading the True Path.
Although it may not sound like the good life, but in what Universe or Dimension, there is nothing but good? We have our troubles, but so do they.
However, We have the benefit that other cultures in this Universe do not have. That is the will to preserve our individual freedom, more so then any other Empire and no matter the cost.
Believe me brothers and sisters, there are few of us that do practice the old traditions, but as long as we are aware of the old ways and acknowledge that our ancestors are looking down at us, the Matari way of life shall never die.
